Prenup Legal Cost

A prenup usually involves two lawyers, one for each side. Enter the hourly rate and hours for each side, then add filing and translation to see the full project cost.

Hourly rates and filing fees are set by the professionals and courts you use, not by a central schedule. Ask for a written estimate and confirm what the filing fee covers.

Why two lawyers

Independent advice protects both parties and makes the agreement harder to challenge later. One lawyer drafting for both sides can create a conflict of interest and may be rejected by a court.

The cost is therefore closer to double the legal hours, not one set. The calculator assumes the same rate and hours for each side; adjust the inputs if the quotes differ.

Timing and enforceability

An agreement signed immediately before the wedding may be scrutinised. Leave time for disclosure, negotiation, translation and signing.

Enforceability rules vary by country, including what can and cannot be agreed. Take local advice; this calculator only prices the process.

Frequently asked questions

Can one lawyer represent both of us?

Usually not advisable and often not permitted for a negotiated agreement. Each side should have independent counsel.

Is filing always required?

Not everywhere. Some agreements are private contracts; others are filed with a court. Ask a local lawyer.

What if we cancel the wedding?

Legal work already done is usually billable. Ask about cancellation terms before instructing.
