Sponsor Income Gap

Enter the threshold, the sponsor’s income, savings and the counting divisor. The calculator shows countable savings, the remaining gap and the monthly saving needed by the application date.

Income gap before savings—
Savings counted—
Monthly saving needed—
Surplus or shortfall—

This applies the divisor you enter to savings; real routes may count only savings above a floor, exclude some accounts or treat income differently. Check the official formula for your route.

Thresholds are route-specific

An income threshold belongs to a visa route, not to marriage in general. The same couple may qualify on one route and not another, and the evidence required can differ.

Use the calculator to test scenarios: a higher income, a longer saving period, a different divisor. The result is arithmetic under your assumptions, not a prediction of the decision.

Savings are not cash income

Savings may be counted at a discount, held for a period, or counted only above a minimum. That is why the divisor matters: it converts a balance into a countable amount.

Keep the money accessible and documented. A balance that appears shortly before the application may be questioned; a steady history is easier to evidence.

Frequently asked questions

What divisor should I use?

Use the one stated by the route you are applying under. If the guidance does not state one, the calculator cannot substitute for it.

Does the applicant’s income count?

Sometimes, depending on the route and the country. Check the guidance rather than assuming.

Should savings include investments?

Only if the route accepts them and they can be valued and withdrawn. Confirm the accepted asset types.
